Loose Tonal or Tonal with Motion?
Chasing tonal landscape painting but not really ready yet to give up gesture-ly qualities, I guess. It has movement at the cost of the stillness generally conveyed in conventional tonal landscapes. Strangely, I’m kind of good with that.
To me, the work has all these great areas that I enjoy falling into. Case in point:
There are a lot of these little moments in the painting. and the more you look at it the more you find them. To me, I don’t think you get to have these moments without allowing more action into the production of the artwork.
The trick of the whole thing will be to try and glide that line between the two aspects in the future.
